A year ago, neither of us imagined we would be here. After years working in London in the creative industries, we found ourselves asking the question: what do you do when the life you've built no longer feels right? For us, the answer turned out to be crumbling monastery in Umbria. Today, we're restoring this remarkable building and the wider estate, all whilst while starting a new life abroad with our two children. What began as an impulsive decision has become an adventure in restoration, slow living and Italian bureaucracy...
The restoration will take years and along the way we'll be documenting the journey as honestly as we can — the progress, the setbacks, the discoveries, the inevitable disasters and everything in between.
